Today is #WorldAIDSDay.
I would normally write a homily about how “far we’ve come”, how “many lives have been saved”. I’d tell a story of the success of the South African antiretroviral program.
Fuck that. I won’t. I can’t.
I would far rather like to be as crude, blatant and forthcoming: if you don’t get tested for HIV – you’re a killer.
Every person who finds themselves at any facility can be tested.
How could you live with yourself knowing that coulld have passed a disease, that without treatment, could be the beginning of the end for another human?
Don’t be that.
Get tested. No one has to know your status except you. One pill a day. A free pill. Take it and save your own life and save others too.
